Weigh in Motion - WIM
Overloaded large goods vehicles (LGV) damage the road. They constitute a danger to road safety and furthermore, lead to unfair competition between transport companies. A Weigh In Motion system (WiM) is an aid for enforcing the permitted axle and vehicle weights.

When the weighing system detects an overloaded vehicle, the video system will provide a picture of the vehicle.
Two shots will be made:
- Cut out shot of the license plate
-
Cut out shot of the plate hazardous materials, if present
The advantages:
- An aid for enforcement without delaying or obstructing the flow of traffic;
- Automatic axle weighing and weight measurement of all passing vehicles for enforcement and statistical analysis;
- Enforcement employees are only engaged in double-checking and booking the detected overweight LGVs;
- Identifying articulated lorries using video from various angles so the license plates of both tractive unit and trailer can be identified where necessary;
- Feeding the statically measured axle pressures into the system for the purpose of calibration.
