Programmable logic is configuring logic cells and other building blocks on a chip. The best-known logic chip is the Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). Hardware description language Very High Speed Integrated Circuit Hardware Description (VHDL) is used to define the configuration of the chip.
Logic in logic cells
Besides complex and time-critical operations, programmable logic can also process several algorithms at the same time (parallel). This can be of the essence in intensive calculation applications such as real-time image processing. Due to this parallel activity, designing programmable logic requires its own way of thinking.
